Building a Greener Future: How Morph Bricks and Floreon are Revolutionizing Eco-Friendly Construction

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Floreon, a pioneering company creating high performance, eco friendly bioplastics.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our mission to create a greener future. Floreon’s advanced materials are derived from renewable feedstocks such as corn and sugar cane and boast a carbon footprint up to seven times lower than conventional oil-based plastics, without compromising on performance or durability. Floreon Therma-Tech, a pioneering PLA, is both flame retardant and halogen-free, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring fire resistance.

Morph Co-Founder, Harvey Banner said,” as a manufacturer of construction systems we wanted to create a high-performance product that was not only sustainable but also met with fire safety regulations. Floreon’s Therma-Tech material was a perfect match as it is both flame retardant and halogen-free, making it an ideal choice for applications such as our Partitions range. Our partnership with Floreon exemplifies how collaborative efforts can lead to significant advancements in product development and sustainability."

Recently, Floreon showcased Morph at the Plastics Live Show in Coventry. But not wanting to stop there the team decided to take full advantage of the modularity and circularity aspects of Morph bricks, and so transported them to their new location at the Aura Innovation Centre (AIC) in Hull. The bricks are being re-used to create a freestanding display unit, once again highlighting the versatility of the Morph system and underscoring the power of collaborative partnerships.

The Aura Innovation Centre, led by the University of Hull, is the Humber’s leading net zero centre which acts as the front door to the University providing opportunities for businesses to access a network of academic expertise and cutting edge research and development technology. Floreon relocated to the AIC to make use of its modern and versatile office spaces, and to access its comprehensive in-house research and development space, InventX.

"The partnership between Floreon and Morph fully embodies the entire ethos of the Aura Innovation Centre, which is to promote and support low-carbon innovations and collaborations," said Brian Houston, AIC’s InventX Manager.

The Need for Sustainable Construction Solutions

The construction industry is notorious for its significant environmental impact and responsible for 39% of global carbon emissions. Innovations in green technology are essential to addressing these challenges.

Working with Floreon, our shared dedication to green innovation has introduced a game-changing product to the market that promises to reshape sustainable construction. Our collaboration has resulted in a new eco-friendly product that can be continuously reused and recycled. This advancement not only reduces waste but also promotes a circular economy.

Dr. Sandrine Garnier, CEO of Floreon explains, "Our materials are designed to seamlessly replace oil-based plastics, offering an eco-friendly, drop-in manufacturing solution."

Floreon's materials are designed with end-of-life in mind, ensuring they can be recycled both mechanically and chemically, and reintegrated into the supply chain, making them an excellent choice for Morph Bricks.

The Morph system is inherently reusable, the bricks simply interlock and pull apart without tools or specialist skills. Every Morph product can be repurposed to a new location or transformed into new designs without waste, time and again

Key Features of Morph Bricks:

  1. Reduced Carbon Footprint: We significantly lower carbon emissions compared to traditional materials. Using recycled ABS and bioplastics derived from renewable resources like corn and sugar cane, Morph achieves up to a 90% reduction in carbon footprint.
  2. Recyclability and Circular Economy: Morph Bricks are designed for continuous recycling. Our modular bricks can be disassembled and repurposed for new designs, promoting a circular economy and reducing waste. Morph Partitions are comparable on price to stud walls but when needs change, Morph Partitions can be disassembled without waste and resued in a new location making a 90% cost saving.
  3. Fire Safety and Durability: Floreon's Therma-Tech material, used in Morph Partitions, boasts an UL94V-0 fire rating, ensuring superior fire resistance without harmful halogens. This makes it an ideal choice for construction applications where safety is paramount.
